Lucas Ford

Lucas Ford is a Canadian film/tv producer and development executive with a passion for championing bold, filmmaker-driven and genre storytelling. Most recently as a film executive at Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment, Lucas is most known for discovering and bringing in Kane Parson’s viral feature adaptation of Backrooms (A24) which opened to $118m WWBO, breaking many records including A24’s biggest opening and the highest grossing opening for an original horror film and has since exceeded $250m. While at 21 Laps, Lucas also contributed to cultural hits like Stranger Things, Shadow & Bone, and Free Guy.

Under his Ford Films banner, Lucas has produced 5 debut feature films and several short films that have been selected at SXSW, Slamdance, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Austin and Fantasia’s Frontières Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. Upcoming projects include the horror/comedy Portal to Hell (Cineverse) starring Keith David and Richard Kind and Adulting, the left of center rom-com starring Kelsey Asbille.

Lucas began his career at the Toronto International Film Festival where he worked for the CEO and Artistic Director, later holding roles at Searchlight Pictures, Amazon Studios, and MGM, as well as working on celebrated Canadian series Letterkenny (Hulu).

A Film Independent and BAFTA Fellow, Lucas holds an MFA from USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program and a BFA from Toronto Metropolitan University. His training also includes the Reykjavik Talent Lab and International Co-Producing at HFF München. He serves as a producing mentor for the PROOF Film Festival, Tasveer Producers Lab and Palm Springs Shortfest, and also teaches independent producing as an Adjunct Professor at USC. Lucas is a voting member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and resides in Los Angeles.

Producer
