Set at a college in Austin, Texas, Party People is a feature comprised of eight interlocking vignettes surrounding the semester’s “first big party.” But unlike most “party movies,” many of our characters never make it. They get lost, or waylaid, or bail. And for those who do arrive, we cut away before we can actually see where the rest of the night takes them. Because, as our freshmen learn… it’s not really about the party at all. It’s about the devastating collision of expectations and reality, and knowing their memories of this night aren’t going to be as glamorous as they envisioned. Put simply: life is what happens when you’re trying to get to the party.
